Photography has been an ever present part of my life. There have been times when it was all consuming and other times when I did nothing. I am coming out of one of the doing nothing periods in a new and exciting way.
By new I mean going back to my early days when film was king and black and white photography was my thing. I have always loved B&W photography having been influenced by Ansel Adams, Bruce Davidson, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Brooks Jensen just to name a few. When I came back from Vietnam I was lucky to be hired by our local community college where I was in charge of the B&W darkroom lab.
I have been longing for the days when photography was much simpler with just focusing and exposure to manage. Every time I pick up my Sony A7II, I have to try to remember, or more likely relearn, how to operate the camera with its screen after screen of options.
This blog is a diary of sorts where I can document my journey Back to Film and you are invited along on that journey.
